Dixie is a very sweet adult female Lab mix. She is timid with new people, but spend 5 minutes with her in a quiet place and she will be your new best friend. We recommend a home with no children because she is easily stressed by noise and commotion. She is not fond of cats. When Dixie knows you, she will be bouncy and loving and happy to see you. She keeps her cage clean and behaves well on a leash. Dixie is a very nice dog who will thrive in the right home. Posted 2-27-12. Stray, came in with Daisy. POW update 3-19. Update 6-4: Dixie is now in foster care with our trainer. Contact the shelter to make arrangements if you would like to meet her. Update 6-8: Our trainer reports that Dixie has settled in and is doing well. She gets along with dogs but is afraid of new people. She is great on a leash and excellent at heeling. Dixie is house trained and loves to play in water and swim. She is afraid of noises and sudden movements. She is submissive - not at all aggressive. Update 6-25: Our trainer is working miracles with Dixie. She comes to meetings at the shelter and sits calmly with several people around, and will slowly approach them for treats. She knows sit, come and is working on down. She walks with the trainer without a leash.
